About Our Facility
Bernie and Karen Showers, better known as Nina and Poppi, are the proud owners of Showers Daycare and Preschool for over 30 years! It started out as a busy family needing care for their children. Once their children were grown they continued to provide quality care for families in the community. Most of their grandchildren have "graduated" from care and they are still open for the community that craves quality and loving care at a reasonable cost.
What Do We Offer To Our Community?
At Showers Daycare and Preschool you are more than just a family that needs care for your children. We are a small facility attached to The Showers' home. We are located in Fredericksburg, close to the Berks County line and with easy access to 22 and 78 for traveling to work. Being a small facility allows us to really get to know our families and students and create bonds that allow the children to grow to their highest potential. We have a mixed age group and are not split into separate classrooms, but do split into groups for some activities if needed. We find that this allows older ones to be "big kid helpers" and really enjoy being leaders while our younger ones advance faster because they are seeing the older kids doing things and hearing them talk. We are staffed with two teachers at all times to keep the children safe. Our goal for all students and their families is to feel welcomed when they walk in the door. We want our students to look forward to coming. We foster an environment that allows children to be independent and grow into their own person. We focus on learning through play, allowing children to make mistakes, building friendships, and talking with kind words to our peers and teachers. We want you to be excited to be here with us!

Early Learning
We accept children starting at two years old. Our early learners are provided activities, curriculum, and space that allows them to explore. We focus on using words, taking turns, independence, and making friends. As caretakers and teachers, we work hard on building relationships with our students so that they are comfortable when walking in the door. We want them to enjoy coming and feel comfortable enough to spend their day with us.
We do work on potty training when the children are ready.
Ages 3 - 5-Preschool Program
Whether you are enrolled in full time care or just here for the preschool program, you will get all the benefits of attending Showers Daycare and Preschool. We focus on learning through play, building friendships, and being independent. We do work on all the things your children need to know academically for kindergarten, but our main focus is having your child socially and emotionally ready to handle a classroom with new adults and 15-20 children that they do not know. Academically, they will work on letters and their sounds, numbers, shapes, colors, using scissors and writing instruments, and working through science activities just to name a few things. We always have a fun filled morning with lots of learning. Without fun and movement it is hard to keep little minds intrigued.
